BSC / TRC
The possibility to combine the functions of the TRC and BSC in a single base node AXE. Subsystem of BSC / TRC is the same as used in stand alone BSC
Hardware specific to the BSC / TRC are:

Hardware configuration BSC / TRC
RADIO BASE STATION (RBS)
RBS including all radio and interface devices required for radio transmission. Ericsson issued two versions of RBS, RBS 2000 and RBS 200. Each RBS operates when given a pair of frequencies. One frequency is used to transfer signals to the MS, and another, to receive signals from the MS.
RADIO RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
BSC has realtime updates (which can not be bothered) by the point of view of the portion of the radio network. Radio Frequency Measurement from the signal strength created by the MS and BTS. Mobile is continuously updating reports measurements of signal strength and Bit Error Ratio (BER) for the serving BTS, along the signal strength from nearby base stations BTS. This measurement report sent by the BTS to BSC where the handover decision is made.
EFFICIENT USE OF SPECTRUM
Frequency spectrum is a finite resource. The main tasks of the BSC is to optimize use of available frequencies. The new features are part located in the BSC and RBS. Two types of Frequency Hopping Synthesizers and Baseband supported. Frequency Hopping serve two functions, namely:
· Develop quality speech path from the MS that moves slowly
· Co-channel interference is limited to all links in the network, producing a cell plan with a frequency reuse distance is shorter, the profit increase in calls.
Discontinuous Transmission (DTX) is used together with frequency hopping for further development of interference tolerance. Uplink and downlink DTX is implemented in the RBS 2000.
Support for Dynamic Power Regulation in MS and RBS RBS implemented in 2000. These services limit the interference level in the network and save power consumption.
Radio Base Station
Distribution Switch Unit (DXU) provides a system interface to the A bus interface and is used for cross-connects individual time slots to transcievers. DXU RBS also provides synchronization timing reference for the operation of RBS.
Transceiver Unit (TRU) contains a receiver and transmitter circuits are needed to deal with 8 time slots of information on air interface. TRU containing the measurement circuit used for testing RF transmitter & receiver's properties.
Combining and Distribution Unit (CDU) is responsible for combining the signals sent from various transciever and distribute the received signal to all transciever.
Energy Control Unit (ECU) to supervise and control the DC Power Equipment (PSUs), and regulate environmental conditions within the cabinet. Power Supply Units (PSUs) ration voltage AC or DC as the primary voltage source and provides DC voltage systems.
